Celebrating Hannah

Hannah arrived as a volunteer February 2022 to a dark, wet England with a 6-month visa and a willingness to help with any and everything. We had very little structure as an embryonic church plant, so no day or week looked or felt the same. Hannah served at the Greenhouse but also lived in our home and got absorbed as part of the family. Here is her parting letter to The Greenhouse after 6 months in Hurst...

Dear Greenhouse Family

As I reflect on the special six months I was able to spend with you all, my heart is filled with

gratitude. I am grateful that I was able to live in the Kloppers’ home, that I got to meet all of

you, that I was able to grow emotionally and spiritually, and I am grateful that God placed

me in such a caring and special family – the Greenhouse church.

My first few months with you were tough – I was adjusting to life after school and living in a

new country, learning more about myself, dealing with some mental health struggles and

just growing I guess, but seeing you all on a Sunday was always so special and something I

looked forward to each week. No matter how bad my mental space was or how down I felt,

I always knew that I had a new community that would love and care for me which helped

me so much, so thank you.

As time passed and I got to know everyone a little better, I was in awe of just how good our

God is. I loved being able to worship as a church family and have conversations with each of

you. Gods’ presence was so evident in the church family and hearing how He was working in

each persons’ life was incredible.

I was filled with joy being able to spend time with the kids on Sunday evenings. While I did

get a little impatient with them every now and then, I loved getting to know them, watching

them play together and become friends and seeing how they take their faith and Jesus with

them into everyday life. It was such a privilege to be able to spend time with them and learn

from them so thank you for granting me that opportunity.

Being part of the youth group was also so much fun. I enjoyed all our Friday night

discussions and made such great friends. When I noticed how few girls we had though, I saw

an opportunity to form special connections and decided to start a bible study for Katie,

Ruby, Megan, and myself.

This bible study brought me so much joy and I loved being able to share with the girls, learn

from them and grow in our faith together. Thank you, girls, for being patient with me,

teaching me so much and just being so great.

I was blessed to also be part of the Friday Ladies meetings which was incredible. I learnt so

much about Jesus, how to live for Him and had the privilege of listening to a few of the

ladies’ testimonies which taught me so much.

A few more memories that are close to my heart are the baptisms that I was able to witness

(and yes, I did cry at all of them), being able to spend time in different families’ homes and

share meals with all of you.

There are so many lessons I have learnt, memories I have made and friendships I have

formed from my time at The Greenhouse that I will cherish forever.

I can’t wait to see how God works in your family over the next few months and will

hopefully see you all soon!

With love,

Hannah
